It is good to see such enthusiasm on the list. While I still think that we have a ways to go, the signs are encouraging. There are two possibilities of venues that I see: 1. TaxSpanner office at Netaji Subhash Place (opp. the big TV tower near Pitampura,North Delhi). 15-20 people can be accommodated, and snacks, etc., can be provided for. WiFi, too! 2. If a more central location is desired, I can almost certainly get Prof. Andrew Lynn to provide JNU as a venue. Let me know, as and when a venue is finalised. > We are positive on a good arrangement for venue, snacks and audience on 11th > July. One last comment: It seems like that we are forcing people to sign up to walled gardens where as the saying goes: "the product is *you*"; be it Facebook, Twitter, or meetup.com. I would strongly urge that one should be able to do *anything* needed for participation by virtue of being a member of this list. It should not be a requirement to give away the remaining shreds of one's privacy just to participate in Delhi/NCR Python activities. IMHO, that is a problem with such companies. If participants on this list are OK with such closed sites, with signup required, then please do go ahead by all means. I just meant to request that RSVPs on this list also be accepted. Personally, I am strongly opposed to requiring people to sign up for anything outside of the mailing list in order to participate in activities publicised on the list. However, that is, of course, a matter of consensus, and in the worst-case scenario I can just choose not to participate. We started with the workshop on python by 3 pm. Saurabh (@_theskumar) introduced the attendees which primarily consisted of students JIIT, JSS Noida etc to python and covered the concepts of whitespaces, arithmetics, string operations and funcitons in the subsequent hour. We broke for supper at 4 and munched on Chinese cuisine ordered from a dhaba nearby. At half past 4, the meetup in its conventional sense resumed with a talk on "Testing with Python 101" by Saurabh Kumar again. The talk was followed up by a general discussion centered on feedback and suggestions. By six O'clock we were on our way. On the whole a successful meetup. PS: The video of the talk shall be available on our youtube channel shortly - coutesy Vinay Dahiya. Pictures are available at http://www.meetup.com/pydelhi/photos/26258870/ The next workshop, shall continue from where we left and cover data structures, conditional statements and iterations. -- Anuvrat Parashar http://anuvrat.in -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Thanks for noticing and prompting 2nd time about this on mailinglist, which I didn't realize while copy/pasting the MoM from Google doc. Personally, I think it's too early to brand a PyCon event as "PyCon Delhi" and it doesn't any benefits in general. That said, what i believe being discussed and always been the intend is "PyCon India" with venue as Delhi. Also, the mini-conf should not be named PyCon, and as a local user group, we should just go with `PyDelhi` as a brand and call the conference as `PyDelhi` or `PyDelhi Conference`. If nobody, has any objections, let's use "PyCon India in Delhi" and "PyDelhi Conference" as appropriate. There is also a requirement/intend to host "DjangoCon" in India and I think it is a good opportunity for Delhi Python User Group for take the lead and coordinate with other python user groups to make it happen. ?--? *?*Saurabh Kumar https://saurabh-kumar.com -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I just wanted to give the companies already part of this group(like yours) a first stab at this. Hi Akshay, > Are you looking for venue sponsor, how many people would be there? @Samanyu as Vinay pointed out we lookout for both venue sponsors and those that can help with other things like food snacks and equipment. The immediate need is for companies to look to pickup the tab for snacks in our next meet up @ HauzKhas Social. Estimated cost of snacks per person in this location would be around 300 per person, I have asked the host if we can get some discount considering the No. of people, waiting to hear back.(will update if I have a positive response).
