Exciting meetup. It was great meeting all you folks! We ended up chatting about a multitude of topics.

We figured it would be best to get started with writing some code as soon as possible instead of just talking about it. In that interest,
the idea was to create a Github organisation for NCR Python User Group and then just get people to start contributing code for any
thing they’re interested in.

In that vein, the idea of working on small-time projects that might not offer anything “unique”, but would still be a good learning experience came up.
Something similar to: http://pythonpracticeprojects.com/. So we can take up ideas like a Template Engine, ora Static Site Generator.

Here are some rough ideas that were brought up during the meet up:

1. Falcon/pony/bottle - Create a web framework with lightweight tools.
2. Compiling client side code - like d3.js and wrapping it up in Python.
3. Notification service for various devices, Nagios alerting.
5. NLP/NLTK: Text Summarisation. http://www.textteaser.com/ and http://tldr.io/
6. Devops [This was just vaguely mentioned so I’m leaving it open-ended].
7. Localization - Solving the problem of typing in local vernacular. Good tools? Could you do it with something like the surface keypad?
8. Tools to create regex <--> FSM charts.
9. alpaca -> API clients generation for multiple languages
10. Modules for streaming JSON support.
11. Distribution systems - learning how they work. Say, how might one go on about emulating a distributed setup on their own machine and try it out, without resolving to dealing with real big time systems (since not everyone has access to those systems).

I’ve set up the Github org here: https://github.com/NCR-Python Hit me up on this list if you want to be added to it. :)

Cheers,
Manish
