That said the ml has been quiet since. I was looking for feedback from people who attended and saw the presentation on #kivy a python based framework. - Did any one end up trying it out for real? - Did any one find any thing in the framework that could be improved on? I was totally under prepared and the absence of a projector didn't help. It probably was too long and got boring in the end. I guess people don't want to leave a negative remark and kept quiet instead, either that or every one got busy at the same time :). I know I did with the 1.8 release for kivy framework. Regardless I learned a lot and saw that there was a significant effort being put in by people to spread python in +2 and further in colleges. I would also like to know if any technologies around kivy could be leveraged somehow to help in that regard. Some prominent universities are already using kivy in their introductory courses for computing like Cornell http://www.cs.cornell.edu/courses/cs1110/2013fa/materials/python.php which has had kivy in their introductory courses since the last two years. TLDR: was fun, looking forward to next time. Best Regards p.s. Kivy would be participating in GSOC 2014 if any students are interested I'll send a separate mail with details about this. In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: I don?t have any suggestions for Venues, but I have one for the discussion. :) One thing I would love to see us discuss in the next one is how most of us are using Python day to day. Talking about the next cool Python framework gets a little old after a while. I would specifically like to see tips and tricks that experienced Python users have developed over time, and how they use them. Nifty features of the standard library, coding patterns, debugging techniques etc. A very small example: I advised someone today to use the .get notation instead of [] while trying to access dictionary elements, as it has the ability to provide defaults as well, so a KeyError exception can be avoided.
