I suggest you better target 1.7/1.8 for it (1.8 is ETA 2008-11-01).

Both 1.7 and 1.8 are rather easy upgrades from 1.6 and have quite some
bugfixes and nice new stuff (e.g. 1.8 will bring an updated GUI editor /
FCKeditor).
