Daniel,

This sounds great! Please do keep asking questions, when I was writing
the (upcoming) MicroPython book, one of the examples I used is a very
simple mesh network for inter-device communication. It's a fun problem,
but I left it as an exercise for the reader to add security related
challenges (although I have some thoughts about the things you mention).
