I'd like to propose we gather again on the second Tuesday of August, the 11th. I'm volunteering to present "Adventures in IronPython" which promises to be both educational and entertaining. Venue to be determined... We'll need to have the next meeting somewhere we can have a projector. The criteria are, in a rough order of importance: 1. projector-friendly (or installed!) 2. in the CBD or at a pinch reasonably close to the CBD 3. liquid refreshments 4. food Suggestions? I've heard the Redback but it's a bit of a hike out of the CBD. I'd like to meet on the second Tuesday of every even month from now on. I believe that doesn't conflict with any existing user group. I am aware of: - LUV (first Tuesday of each month) - Melbourne PerlMongers (second Wednesday of each month) - Melbourne X Users Group (third Wednesday of each month) - Melbourne PHP Users Group (not sure) - ?? I'm also interested in trying to get the word out wider, so if you're on another related Melbourne-ish list I'd appreciate you plugging MPUG on that list; in particular when there's an announcement of the next meeting. I've been moving house, and am still unpacking. I'd love a monthly meet-up. I can recommend the Loop Bar for something like this, if we can get the space. Last time I was there (a while back) there was a live visual programming competition. It seemed like a nice informal atmosphere, though their web site seems to indicate a busy calendar of events now. Monthly implies we can rope someone or several someones into giving some interesting presentation(s) or organising other fun stuff each month. What are you volunteering to talk about? :) Yeah, the Loop Bar is way busy. I have some leads on some other venues which will be suitable. Meeting details, location and talks list are at: http://wiki.python.org/moin/MelbournePUG If you've seen something cool or are doing something cool then we'd like you to tell everyone about it! Presentations could be 5 minutes or up to 15 minutes if you'd like to ramble for a bit longer. I'll be getting up to talk a bit about my experiences playing with IronPython - what's cool and what's downright odd :) If you've got an idea for a talk just add it to the wiki page. I'd like to avoid talks longer than 15 minutes if possible. I was planning on talking for about 15 minutes. I figure we can have two longer talks followed by some 5 minute lightning talks.
