The exists a buidlout for mm3 + postorius here:

https://github.com/bluedynamics/mailman.buildout

We use it for testing (and hopefully later for standalone deployment).

Since this buildout provides the code from dev_setup directly it's
obsolete in postorius package. This buidlout also could be used for
development if desired (given source checkouts are rw).

No idea if you're willing to use buildout, but it would be an option and
solve this issue directly.
