Maperitive [currently free + commercial version in the future]
http://maperitive.net

A desktop GIS/cartography software written in C#, running on Win, Linux and
Mac (using Mono). Primarily oriented towards use of free geography sources
like OpenStreetMap. IronPython is currently used experimentally to extend
the cartography capabilities (

In future IronPython will be used as a toolkit for application automation,
GIS processing and mapmaking.
