In about 3 weeks (after school finishes), several students and I are
going to investigate a lot deeper into using the new IPython
client/kernel machinery to power the sage cell server. I've been
thinking about it (and several students are exploring it as well), but
we haven't made much progress during the end-of-semester business.
William has also been implementing his code to do remote kernel
execution via an http channel (if I understand his commits correctly).
It would be great if we could have a video conference between the three
projects (IPython, William's Sage Workspace project, and our Sage Cell
Server) to exchange ideas. You're much further along than either of us,
so what I see is (a) we learn from you problems you faced and overcame
and (b) you learn from us possibly ways the IPython protocol/machinery
could be made more general to handle our use-cases (like a "custom"
message type with user-defined arbitrary content).

(ccing William: William, for context, the full message I'm replying to
is here: http://mail.scipy.org/pipermail/ipython-dev/2012-April/009021.html)

Thanks,

Jason
