[IPython-dev] Qt console unusable, any ideas?

Hi all,

can anyone confirm what I'm seeing on my system?  Lately I'd been
using the notebook for everything and hadn't used the qt console
interactively in a while.  Just now I opened it to run some throw-away
codes for work, and it's basically impossible to use.  There's a 2-3
second delay on any action going to the kernel such as tab completion
or calltips, long enough that on tab completion the dead kernel dialog
pops up.

Basically it can't really be used right now.  I'm on an ubuntu 11.10
box, using pyqt (no pyside installed).

I'll dig into bisecting things later if need be, but right now I have
some urgent work to take care of and can't, so if anyone knows/is
willing to dig up what went wrong, it would be great.  In its current
state, the console is basically busted, so we do need to fix this...
