Hi All,
As part of 10th year celebration, I believe, we should plan to extend PyCon
India to have "Python in Education" incorporated.
Below are my suggestion of tracks:
1.
Python for Kids
2.
Python at college
Python For kids:
-
Provide a platform for school students between age 8 and 18 years to get
exposure to Python.
How PyCon India(Indian Python Community) can help:
-
Create a group of mentors from different parts of India.
-
Schools can select students and reach out to mentors to get guidance for
their project.
-
Create a committee to work closely with mentors and also help with the
selection of best projects to showcase in PyCon India.
-
In case it’s necessary, plan to organize workshops for kids on Python in
Education day.
Python at college:
-
A platform for college students to showcase their projects.
-
An opportunity for college students to share their journey on python.
How PyCon India(Indian Python Community) can help:
-
Create a group of mentors to help students.
-
Students can get support from an experienced python professional
(mentor).
-
Have jury members to judge the projects.
-
If we have enough fund, we can plan to recognize the student with the
best project.
Criteria: Students has to get approval from college to participate in this
event.
IMO, this will help both school and college students get exposure to the
Python world and an opportunity for them to meet and interact with Python
professionals. We can also plan to provide participation certificate and
goodies to the students who participate to encourage them.
If there are any students interested to be part of this event but their
project was not selected, we can allow them to attend this event with a
very minimal registration fee.
We can provide one free pass to the college/school where we conducted the
pythonexpress workshop for this event.
Do share your thoughts.
Regards,
Vijay
