You could consider joining the Python Tutor list (of which
I'm moderator, so biased! :-) It has several folks in similar
situations to yourself.

I'd also strongly recommend switching to Python v3
Version 2.7 has been out of support for a long time now
and most tutorials and web sites are now on v3.
