We have a consultant helping us remotely tonight on some Plone theming features for mobile device support for the new theme (eg uwosh.edu/gradstudies ). September 9, 2013 Attending Nick Olsen Mamadou Coubilaly Christian Long We took a look at the projector in the meeting room. It has a VGA input. So, anyone who wants to present will need a VGA connection on their laptop. Christian could not connect to the guest wifi from his laptop, even with the username and password provided by the help desk. Mamadou offered to look in to making guest wifi available to the group. Christian presented a short introduction to the Python PEP (Python Enhancement Proposals) process. We looked at PEP 8 (Python style guide), PEP 20 (the zen of Python), PEP 446 (changing the way file descriptors are handled). and PEP 3156 (a new approach to asynchronous IO). Mamadou demonstrated some of the Python capabilities built in to ARC GIS, the geography software that his department uses. Christian suggested that Mamadou present it in more detail at a future meeting. It was a good meeting. We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting, October 7. Both topics would have been of interest to me. I know generally of PEP 8 but not the others. One well known Plone developer has put together configuration goodies for the Sublime Text Editor, including integration with a PEP 8 tool: http://www.martinaspeli.net/articles/sublime-text-2-for-zope-and-plone There is another tool that uses Python I think the way ARC GIS does: http://www.blender.org/education-help/python/ Other tools that embed Python: http://www.python.org/about/apps/ Kim On Sep 15, 2013, at 1:30 PM, Christian Long wrote: Here?s a summary of our September meeting.
