Just tested with bioinfo.xml (one of your sample files):
benchmark.java: 1.12ms
benchmark_BR.java: 1.06ms
Expat (average of 700 iterations): 0.94ms

Don't have that. I have only J2SE. I get Error: no `server' JVM at
`C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_04\bin\server\jvm.dll'.
