Initial Comment:
When installing expat, the command "./configure" fails. 
Here's what appears a the end of the log:

creating Makefile
creating lib/Makefile
sed: Cannot find or open file ./lib/Makefile.in.
creating lib/expat.h
sed: Cannot find or open file ./lib/expat.h.in.
creating config.h
config.h is unchanged

Neither lib/Makefile.in, nor lib/expat.h.in exists; however 
lib/Makefile and lib/expat.h do. The value of variable 
CONFIG_FILES is "Makefile lib/Makefile lib/expat.h".

What version of Expat are you using?  The build process has changed a 
lot over each of the last several releases, and the process for the 
upcoming 1.95.3 release continues this.
