Ick. I'm sure I'm not the only one who remembers telling perl's CPAN 
module to auto-build all dependencies, only to come back and find it 
building a new version of Perl to install in a local directory. I 
really don't like this idea at all. 

I should point out that I don't mind the working environment idea, 
just not the idea of a version of Python being built in there. You 
can already install multiple versions of Python with "make 
altinstall" (or your distro's packaging system).
