pyOpenSSL never obtained that permission as far as I know.  After taking over maintenance, I?ve contacted openssl-core on on 2015-06-30 in that regard but I?ve never received an answer.  However, on 2015-08-01 OpenSSL released a blog post <https://www.openssl.org/blog/blog/2015/08/01/cla/ <https://www.openssl.org/blog/blog/2015/08/01/cla/>> stating that they?re moving to a vanilla Apache License version 2.0.  Therefore I haven?t further pursuit it as I assume they don?t want to bother with it anymore.
