[C++-sig] RE:Why develop in Python

Hi!

I'm new to the Python environment and I wondered
if someone answer some questions about Python's mission.

(1) Is Python's main goal to provide a clearer
    and simpler subset of C?
(2) Does Python eliminate programming with pointers?
(3) Does Python do OO?
(4) C and C++ are supposed to be platform portable,
    but, of course, shifting platforms does take some
    work ... is Python really platform independent?

Extract support is implemented. Please see
libs/python/test/extract.[cpp/py] for example usage.
