We have negotiated an agreement with a RapidSSL certificate reseller (SSLMatrix). They are happy to offer a free SSL certificate (either single domain or even wildcard, like *.pycon.it) to all Python non-profit organizations in exchange of being listed among the sponsors of the conference. I would like to notice that the RapidSSL certificate is quite good as it's got basically 100% acceptance among all current browsers/OS in the world. If you are interested in this offer, contact SSL Matrix (support at sslmatrix.com, or through the live chat online), and mention "Giovanni Bajo of europython.eu". We will have six days packed with Python topics from October 29 through November 3, 2012. One tutorial day, three days with talks and two days with a barcamp and sprints will provide a variety of types to communicate about Python. There will be social events to give everybody ample opportunity to network with like-minded Pythonistas. PyCon DE 2011 [2] in Leipzig was a great success. Virtually everybody of the 200 participants was enthusiastic about the conference. We strive to keep up the good work and to improve on a few points we got in the feedback. Mark your calendars. More details will be available soon. The event is intended to bring the German speaking Python users together. However, talks in English can be submitted by people who's native language is not German. -- Mike M?ller on behave of the PyCon DE organizing teams [1] http://2012.de.pycon.org/ [2] http://2011.de.pycon.org/ From starsareblueandfaraway at gmail.com Mon Feb 20 19:49:47 2012 From: starsareblueandfaraway at gmail.com (Roy Hyunjin Han) Date: Mon, 20 Feb 2012 13:49:47 -0500 Subject: [Conferences] cheap food In-Reply-To: <6523e39a0907271211kd63b8f5w66878bbcccef8ff9@mail.gmail.com> References: <6523e39a0907271211kd63b8f5w66878bbcccef8ff9@mail.gmail.com> Message-ID: Le 27 juillet 2009 15:11, Catherine Devlin a ?crit : > The key is not to be locked to a designated caterer, which most venues > try to do. ?CHECK THE CATERING POLICY BEFORE CHOOSING A VENUE! ?Such > caterers typically milk their monopolies shamelessly, charging $20+ > for even the simplest meal, plus a pint of blood, a kick in the shins, > and a curse upon your immortal soul. For conferences in the fifty-to-five hundred range, there are lots of options, depending on what kinds of compromises you're willing to make, particularly if you schedule your conference for the weekend when you're competing with fewer business activities. Roy, if you want more specific advice, you should tell us (or remind us) where your conference is, what time of year, and expected size. -- Aahz (aahz at pythoncraft.com) <*> http://www.pythoncraft.com/ "Do not taunt happy fun for loops. Lol whoops that was a Rip van Winkle incident. Actually, I was skimming through unread PyCon-related email in my Gmail account but didn't notice the time lapse. 2009 must have been the year I redirected PyCon mail to another email address and 2012 is when I switched back. I'm not organizing anything at the moment, but am interested in helping or encouraging PyCons at other countries in the future. Be sure to be clear, and you can get what you need, appropriate for the size of what you are organizing.
