Embodied Anatomy & Contact Improvisationwith Heike Kuhlmann and Elske SeidelSeptember 17+18, 2016Sat 10-6, Sun 10-5Studio 2, Mime Zentrum - Kunstquartier Bethanien Berlin

An invitation to experience Contact Improvisation through embodied anatomy,
learning through sensing, feeling into detail and enjoying the discoveries. Experiential anatomy based on the principles of Body-Mind Centering (BMC) will deepen our understanding of how we experience both our body and our partners'.

Through Hands-On work and specific Movement Research we will explore our personal movement impulses, the initiation of movement inside of us. By focusing our awareness while engaging our imagination we can connect to the inspiration within out bodies. Feeling our creative source allows us a clearer idea of who we are and how we move.

This is an invitation into a somatic journey, into a place where we feel at ease with possibility and play. From a safe place within us, we begin to discover our dance in relation to ourselves, the earth and another body. We will touch gravity, communicating and listening through our bodies as we dance.
For people who wish to experience CI through the work of BMC.
What is BMC?Body-Mind Centering is an approach of experiential anatomy, which has been developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen. Anatomical images and information give us a clear understanding of our body and help us to focus on certain structures. Using these structures, touch, and active imagination, we find movement. A wider sense of our body can give us movement inspiration and possibilities, can support us to be present and at home in ourselves. We will give our body time to experience itself, to regenerate and to find expression.

Heike KuhlmannI live and work in Berlin as a dancer, choreographer, teacher and Somatic Movement Educator and therapist (SME/SMT) I am an Integrative Bodywork and Movement Therapist (DiplIBMT), student from Linda Hartley, and hold an MA in Performance Studies/Choreography. I am interested in the integration of body and mind into our dance and our life. This manifests in being present in the different layers of our body, researching new movement impulses, and repatterning by becoming more aware of our habits. I love to dive into the immense ocean of my body to discover myself as I am and in new ways, and to meet others. In the last years I have taught in Brasil, Romania, Spain, Switzerland and England and performed in several works internationally. In Berlin I teach Contemporary Dance, Embodied Anatomy based on the principles of Body-Mind Centering (BMC), Contact Improvisation, and Mornin´Movin´ classes. I am organizing jams, research events, and workshops. You can find more info about me here: www.Heikekuhlmann.net
