Lecture, poetic ruminations, video projection and movement are employed to illuminate a few of several movement-based interventions I performed throughout New York City (solo) and in collaboration with others from iLAND (Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Art Nature and Dance). The full paper is being published as a chapter in The World A Stage: Performance on Behalf of the Environment, forthcoming from Lexington Press. + Jill Sigman/thinkdance (www.thinkdance.org | thinkdance.wordpress.com) Tea & Talk about- The Hut Project is a series of site-specific huts built by choreographer Jill Sigman from found and re-purposed materials. Equal parts visual installation, performance, community action, and cooking demonstration, Sigman?s huts raise questions about waste management, environmental sustainability, real estate, and home. They create temporary spaces for movement improvisation, community conversations, serving tea, and micro-agriculture, and aim to to open visitors to re-imagination of their environment. Hut #7 is currently under construction in the Williamsburg-Greenpoint part of Brooklyn. At the ?Tea & Talk?
