	Contact Improv Jam

Labor Day is now past and it is back to work for many... so it will  
be time to take a break for fun and dance at The Summer's Last Jam, a  
Contact Improv Event in Lexington, Virginia from Friday, September 14  
through Sunday, September 16, 2007.

For only $60 we will provide two meals, seven classes, two music- 
inspired evenings of contact improv (one with live music) and a  
finale of fun dance structures in the river with inner tubes (weather  
permitting).

But we need you to register NOW to plan all this great food and fun.

As a number of people expressed tentative interest in attending our  
contact improv event in Lexington, VA on September 14-16 ("The  
Summer's Last Jam") I thought it important to tell you that as of  
this morning THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED.  (http://thecdct.org/jam)

We had to CANCEL the jam due to lack of advance registration needed  
to assure we will be able to pay our many costs.

I apologize for any inconvenience or change of plans this might have  
caused you.

Hope to see you at other contact improv events in the future.

(to say that our event has been canceled for lack of interest is  
unknown - but what IS known is that contact improv events often have  
problems with attendees registering very late or showing up at the  
last minute... so we encourage you to register early whenever you can  
for The East Coast Jam, The Richmond Jam, The Carrboro Jam, The  
Boston Jam... or any other such events that you would like to  
continue in the future)

i can highly recommend this workshop, below.  not only is nancy one of the
central progenitors of our form, and a fantastic mover, besides, she also is
an alchemist of teaching.  she has thought it through and puts a lot of
attention into composition and pacing of the classes and, as much, the
entire arc of the experience.  and, she is actively pursuing ongoing
research of her own which informs the course, and your understanding of the
material.  if you ever get the opportunity...

A 3-week residential workshop based at Earthdance retreat center focusing on
Contact Improvisation, Changing States, Improvisational Scores, The
Underscore, Composition, and Performance. This year's workshop is *open* to
anyone with previous experience in contact improvisation (approx.
intermediate level).


The workshop will meet Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in studios
at Earthdance, in town, and at an Aikido dojo, and will include physical
training, improvisation and composition scores, jamming, watching,
discussion, feedback, contemplative practice, and performance studies.
There will be occasional evening and weekend activities.
