Earthdance is an artist-run retreat center located in rural Western
Massachusetts, dedicated to dance, movement, and interdisciplinary live
arts. We nurture improvisation and the people who practice it, in a dynamic
and communal setting. Earthdance is an educational center, a locus for dance
and creative research, and a home for artists and staff

Earthdance began as an intentional community in 1986, and has continued to
expand since its inception. With collaborative inspiration, Earthdance
community members built most of the spaces within which our activities
occur. Over time, we have created a diverse spectrum of programming that
runs throughout the year. Earthdance events include workshops, performances,
artist residences, local and community-based projects, internships, and
volunteer opportunities. Earthdance also provides facilities for personal
retreats and group gatherings that overlap with our mission. Through our
activities, we are developing a local and international network for creative
exchange

The mission of Earthdance is to inspire the practice and art of
improvisation; to cultivate dance and movement arts for a diverse range of
people, through education and exchange; and to promote the connections
between our bodies, our communities, and the Earth.
