Message-ID: <022c01c6f45a$ead63a60$6501a8c0@dakini> Hi Folks, After years of hard work, my book, Contact Improvisation: an Introduction to a Vitalizing Dance Form is now published! The book draws from my experiences dancing, researching, and interviewing with many of you. The text begins with a history, then describes the elements that define CI. Subsequent chapters explore how CI relates to self and identity; how class, race, gender, culture and physiology influence the dance; how it promotes connection in a culture of isolation; and how it relates to the concept of community. The final chapter is a collection of exercises from teachers such as Steve Paxton, Nancy Stark Smith, Martin Keogh and others. As a CI teacher, guest editor for CQ, writer, poet, and dancer, I look for ways to introduce more and more people to this wonderful activity. This book is one result. Read excerpts and view photos from the book at my website (www.cherylpallant.com). Or go directly to the publisher's website (www.mcfarlandpub.com/book-2.php?isbn=0-7864-2647-0). You can order the book from both sites. best wishes, Cheryl ________________________ www.cherylpallant.com "If I can't dance I don't want to be part of your revolution." - Emma Goldman -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
