ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Contact Improvisation is a 30 year old form of movement improvisation first
developed by American contemporary dancers Steve Paxton and Nancy Stark
Smith, and is currently practiced, taught and performed throughout the
world.

Contact Improvisation is primarily a duet form of movement improvisation,
based on shared physical contact, and can be introspective, fluid,
spectacular, awkward, personal, hilarious, and/or profoundly moving (in
every way!)

In this workshop we will be learning and exploring some specific skills of
weight sharing, skeletal support, balance and counter-balance, rolling,
falling and flying. (Yes, flying!) A greater proficiency will open the door
to physical safety and greater risk-taking. Come with your openness,
sensitivity, love of moving and sense of humor - we will be moving into the
unknown!
