From joe@orbis-tertius.net Tue Jan 8 07:58:44 2002 From: joe@orbis-tertius.net (Joe Edelman) Date: Tue, 8 Jan 2002 02:58:44 -0500 Subject: [CI-Announce] Interact online with dancers around the world! Message-ID: <005901c1981a$501e01c0$0400a8c0@officedesktop> THE EDANCE WIKI >From the Earthdance Workshop & Retreat Center comes a rallying call to connect the world-wide contact improv community in a new way, on the world-wide web. We have created a website, at http://earthdance.net/wiki/, to which anyone can post their thoughts, visions, or tips, and through which we can collaboratively create manifestos, plans, curriculums, visions, stories, and anything else that comes to mind. It is easy to use: just find the page that you would like to add to and click the button "edit this page". The site is divided into sections, and it is easy to add your own section. The sections currently on the site are: *Testimonials *Contact and Kids *Contact and Sports Injuries *Dance Inspired Stories & Poetry *Contact Visions & Brainstorms *Contact, Sexuality, & Boundaries Contact and Aging Contact and Community The Contact Improv Exercise Book The Contact Improv Encyclopedia Tutorial: Starting a Jam GET INVOLVED WRITE. The success of this site depends on your thoughts! Post them! If we receive well-written, interesting contributions, people will keep coming back to see what's new, and a community will form. If no one posts, the thing will fade quickly. You can post directly to any of these sections just by using the site and clicking "Edit this page" in the appropriate place. You can write to the facilitators, or to me, for assistance. Remember: a single paragraph that raises important issues or offers a new perspective can be more valuable than a lengthy essay. FACILITATE. The sections with asterisks near their name above need facilitators. The job of a facilitator is to rope in contributors on their topic by sending out emails to people they know, and to assist those contributors as they add to the site. You can help by deciding to facilitate one of those sections above and by sending emails asking knowledgeable people to write short pieces for that section. As people post, you can reformat and rearrange the section as needed. You can also start your own section. PLAY. The software that runs this website is powerful, fluid, and anarchistic, just like contact improv itself. Start developing a story or thought and see who else runs with it. Rearrange things. Be whimsical. Don't be careful-- in this supportive community there's nothing you can break. Make a beginning and see where it goes. Just click "Edit this page." This site will become whatever our community wants it to be. If you know someone whose ideas belong on this site, forward them this announcement, and tell them what it is you think they should post. Offer to help them if they have difficulty. Share! Support! Dance! Go to http://earthdance.net/wiki/.
