Once we are wholly connected and committed to our movement sources, we will embark on wildly diverse relationships: with our environment, with each other across time and space, and in physical contact. The objective is to have a deeply felt personal experience and to be able to communicate and share that experience with a duet partner, a multi-partner ensemble and, ultimately, a viewing audience. August 7-30, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12-3pm, $80 or $15 single 537 Broadway, 3rd Floor (Forti studio) to register: 212.260.0265 Andrew Marcus, the originator of Sensation and Form and Technique for a Soft Body, has been committed to improvisation as performance for almost 20 years. He performs and teaches internationally and has collaborated with such pioneers as Daniel Lepkoff, Nina Martin and Nancy Stark Smith. Andrew is in the process of forming a dance company for improvisers. An audition for Andrew Marcus Performance will be held on Fri. 8/31, 12-3 at the Forti studio. I am also teaching "Technique for a Soft Body" at Dance Space, 451 Broadway 2nd Floor. Mon. 8/13, Wed. 8/15 & Fri. 8/17, 10am -12pm.: This work is designed to develop the body as an efficient vehicle for personal artistic expression. Moving developmentally from the floor to standing, we will integrate the skeleton, muscles and soft tissues as sources of support, speed and expressive qualities. Class will end with simple improvisational scores designed to integrate technique with live action, spontaneous dancing; the ultimate goal being an articulate body and a conceptually rigorous approach to space. As noted on the workshop flyer, there will be an audition for my new improvisational company, fri. 8/31, 12-3 at the Forti Studio. I'm looking for 5-7 dancers. The audition will be very low key, just like a workshop class, so relax and enjoy. Please forward this to whoever might be interested. Hope to see you, Andrew From Abm111@aol.com Sat Jul 14 03:17:56 2001 From: Abm111@aol.com (Abm111@aol.com) Date: Fri, 13 Jul 2001 22:17:56 EDT Subject: [CI-Announce] Andrew Marcus - August Workshop, Technique Class, Audition Message-ID: Hi everyone: I'll be teaching the following workshop in August: Andrew Marcus Beyond Contact: Improvisation for Performance In this workshop we will use our physical, emotional and intellectual skills to locate personally meaningful movement vocabulary.
