Message-ID: <14467.26137.203214.998535@splat.digicool.com> Hi, all. I'm testing use of the mailing list for ci-announcements - this list is supposed to feed to the various regional lists, but it was recently broken by some admin maintenance, hopefully fixed now. Just as a reminder, ci-announce@python.org is for for broadcasting announcements across the regional lists - ie, currently: dc-ci@python.org - washington, dc metro area ric-ci@egroups.com - richmond, virginia philly-ci@python.org - philadelphia, pennsylvania contactnyc@egroups.com - New York, New York metro area contact-improv-catchall@egroups.com - People who have no regional list Nobody can subscribe directly to ci-announce - they have to subscribe to one of the regional lists (or contact-improv-catchall, for those without one...) Hope this works - if it does, howdy!-) Ken O wad some poer the giftie gie us To see oursl's as others see us. - Robert Burns (-: VS :-) We forfeit three-fourths of ourselves in order to be like other people. - Shopenhauer From klm@digicool.com Mon Jan 17 19:00:33 2000 From: klm@digicool.com (Ken Manheimer) Date: Mon, 17 Jan 2000 14:00:33 -0500 (EST) Subject: [CI-Announce] Email version of flyer for distribution (fwd) Message-ID: Probably due to ci-announce being down (ci-announce@python.org), dan was unable to post this - hopefully it's working now. We will meet in an absolutely beautiful fourth floor dance space just a couple buildings down the street from Ken's apartment in Old Towne Fredericksburg. We can be in the space from 8:30 - 10:30 pm for a total of $50 - this should be about $5-7 each (Ken is willing to cover the difference if we are a very small group). If we aren't quite finished at 10:30, we can walk quietly down to the apartment to draw/write/talk there. We're starting at 8:30 to allow driving time from DC and Richmond after rush-hour. Folks are welcome to stay at the apartment overnight if they'd like - it's not a huge apartment, but we have an extra futon bed and floor space. Please bring a sleeping bag, sleeping pad, pillow & towel. Detailed directions and other logistics will be sent early next week. We are looking forward to having you here! Please RSVP so we know how many to plan on. with relish! Kathryn Larson (I head back to Minnesota on 2/5, so it will be especially great to have you here on the 28th.) He's a gifted teacher who creates a fun, safe, inclusive space in which to learn. There has been talk of taking advantage of his presence on the east coast this spring, so I'd like to guage interest levels for a Martin Keogh workshop, here in Richmond, either on Saturday & Sunday March 25 & 26 or March 11 & 12, depending on space availability. These are the only possible dates we could bring him here. The workshop would be welcoming to beginners & experienced contacters alike, cost approx. $90. Here's a description: • Rolling on a Grassy Slope • Intensive Weekend Workshop in Contact Improvisation with Martin Keogh During this two day workshop we will begin with a review of the fundamentals of Contact Improvisation. These include: tuning the senses, communicating through touch, weight exchange, moving support, falling safely, and aerial work. Special emphasis during this workshop on releasing the neck and pelvis, and surprising ourselves in flight and extended follow-through. • For all levels: beginners welcome Please let me know if you would be willing and available to take this workshop. Lawrence There are vast realms of consciousness still undreamed of vast ranges of experience, like the humming of unseen harps, we know nothing of, within us. Oh when man has escaped from the barbed-wire entanglement of his own ideas and his own mechanical devices there is a marvelous rich world of contact and sheer fluid beauty and fearless face-to-face awareness of now-naked life and me, and you, and other men and women and grapes, and ghouls, and ghosts and green moonlight of the unknown air, and eyes so soft softer than the space between the stars, and all things, and nothing, and being and not-being alternately palpitant, when at last we escape the barbed-wire enclosure of Know Thyself, knowing we can never know, we can but touch, and wonder, and ponder, and make our effort and dangle in a last fastidious fine delight as the fuchsia does, dangling her reckless drop of purple after so much putting forth and slow mounting marvel of a little tree.
