I'm wondering if you might know of any sources of knee pads. I'd love to purchase some. I'd be very grateful and less bruised for a response. OK (a deep breath) it's from October 13th to 17th; a wednesday to a sunday afternoon. Claymont Court, West Va http://www.claymont.org/sem/seminar.htm this is the sadly-in-need-of-updating webpage from last years jam which will give you quite a bit of info as well. http://richmond.infi.net/~mugsy/directions.html We usually take a 50$ deposit to reserve your space, but this early, having intent is a GoodThing If you've never been to the Jam, or aren't sure if I have your info, I'm the "keeper of the list", so send me your address, phone number, food restrictions, birthdate, ..oh yeah...and name... any other data that seems relevant, and I'll add you to the mailing list, then you'll get a flyer when our handy team of specialists...er...Sycamore from Split Tree Farm...gets them done in about a month. We all volunteer, so our other lives intervene, but we will all be gearing up and becoming quicker to respond as the Jam draws near but if you have any questions, please email me here anytime sooon, sooon... mugsy From RGKAPPA@aol.com Thu Aug 5 14:01:11 1999 From: RGKAPPA@aol.com (RGKAPPA@aol.com) Date: Thu, 5 Aug 1999 09:01:11 EDT Subject: [CI-Announce] Authentic Money Message-ID: Hey Gang, The administrative assistant at Joe's Movement Emporium (Abla Ioku) faxed me a kind of contract for renting the space to do authentic movement. She's requesting an immediate payment of one session's rent ($30) which I am happy to send in. So how ever many people show up on Aug. 22 (11:30-2:30!!) will reimburse me, minus my share of the rent. After this initial payment, Brooke has requested that we pay $30 at the BEGINNING of each month. So, this commitment is on a different level than the jam. And I salute Brooke in running a non-profit business as opposed to a charity! So as not to take up precious moving time with business, i propose that we solve, in advance, how to keep up our end of this contract. I can make the monthly payment through October, but then someone else will have to take responsibility while I'm in Japan. Keep in mind that it's only $30, most of which the check- writer will get back. Looking forward to this new venture! I'll be there and was wondering if anyone would want to catch dinner beforehand, maybe somewhere on the mall. Or if there's enough time, I know a great sushi place a little farther afield. I'm thinking I could get to town by about 6. Lynda From jddances@hotmail.com Sat Aug 7 21:47:56 1999 From: jddances@hotmail.com (jddances .) Sounds like a lovely place - dance pavillion in the woods, cabins, other camp amenities. They've even hired a cook! The price is working out to be around $70 per person for the weekend. Ken will facilitate this first session which means that he will have one or more structures in mind to get us going. We think having a facilitator is an efficient use of time- more moving/witnessing, less chat. Make sure to bring your own drawing and/or writing materials for processing. Regarding cost, we are proposing a minimum cost of $5 per person per session. This way we can build up a small reserve fund with which to 1)pay in advance for the following month and 2) cover costs if, for some reason only1 or 2 people show up at some future session. We are under contract with Brooke to pay in advance each month, so this way no one gets stuck footing the bill. Another proposal, with the intention of creating a stable, committed core group, is to ask people to pay for 3 sessions at a time. Total $15. Even if you know that you can only make 2 of 3 sessions, you would still pay $15. This practice is quite common among many types of ongoing groups which have shared expenses- kind of like a co-op. You are contributing to sustaining the organism. Now, for many of us, $15 every 3 months does not represent a burden, but for some, that may be a lot of money. We do not want this to be a cost prohibitive group, so individual cash flow issues can be looked at. Because we hope to make authentic movement a monthly event, input from all interested participants is encouraged. The idea is to book Joe's for 3 months at a time. So, on Sunday, please bring your calandars and we will nail down dates for Nov., Dec. and Jan. (Remember that we already have Sep. 12 and Oct 3 reserved.) There will surely be other things to discuss, so please bring lunch or buy something at the co-op and plan to all eat together in the time between authentic and the jam. Finally, please arrive at Joe's at 11:15 am on Sunday. Then we can tidy up the studio, change clothes, etc. and make a clear start at 11:30. Please email me with any comments or questions. I'm so looking forward to Sunday and future authentic movement times.
