I had a bash script to bootstrap things and also did some stuff by hand.
now we have
https://github.com/scipy-conference/SciPy-2014/blob/master/fabfile.py

I am also trying it out for my job and had some more luck, except with
vagrant. Things start off okay with vagrant, then fab doesn't like empty
passwords, and the vagrant user doesn't need a password for sudo.
