Hi everyone,

As many of you know, Smokehouse Brewing is closing so we must find a new 
place to meet. Two possible places to meet have been suggested by 
friends and co-pythonistas.

*MCL* (Kingston Shopping Center)

MCL can host us on Monday nights in either one of there separate dining 
rooms or in and adjacent area (called the nook). It is open until 8:390, 
which would give us another half hour each night.

*East Market* (212 Kelton Ave)

East Market has an upper level that we could use. (Access via elevator 
or stairs available.) It has as ?farmer?s market? on the main level 
(along with washrooms) with a wide variety of food available. Although 
the market is billed as being open until midnight, I suspect that the 
food vendors close earlier.

Both have wi-fi available.

Which do you prefer? Please let me know your preference by noon Thursday 
(*tomorrow*). If you know of another place that might be better, pass 
that on as well.

I like that MCL. It's on my side of town, and I never got a flat tire

East Market is closer to me and I like the more central location. That said, I haven?t been been to a dojo since pre covid.

Is that the MCL in the Kingsdale Shopping Center? I do like the variety in

Hi,

As you may know, the restaurant that we have been meeting at is closed 
(for at least a month). Of the dozen votes for a new place that I 
received, the most went for MCL at Kingsdale. However, when I tried to 
confirm the reservations there, I discovered that they close at 7:30. 
That is unacceptable for at least one regular member of our group.

I made an ?executive decision? to move our group to East Market (212 
Kelton Ave. - Directions below). One concern is that it may be loud. 
Another is that various vendors may close sooner than we want. However, 
we shall have to find out for ourselves if we need to move again.

Franklin Park Neighborhood of the Near-East side. There is free

Hello fellow pythonistas! This month's CohPy meeting will be the 29th and will be by Brian Costlow. Here are the details on the talk:

*Writing K8s Admission WebHooks in Python.
*
Kubernetes, at its heart, is a platform for managing and orchestrating containerized workloads and services.

A key concept in Kubernetes is that you configure some desired state on a Kubernetes cluster via the Kube API (usually not directly, but via kubectl, Helm, or various CD tools) and one or more Controllers try to make the desired state the actual state.

Admission Controllers are special controllers that can act on desired state changes and potentially modify or reject them before they are persisted and other controllers act on them.

There are two built-in Admission Controllers that are designed to be easily extended: MutatingAdmissionWebhook and ValidatingAdmissionWebhook. Neither of these have their own internal logic to handle the Admission, they call a webhook application that you create to make those decisions.

Because K8s is written in Go, the community is Go-focused and most Admission webhooks are written in Go. But a webhook is just a type of web application, and you can write your webhooks in any language that you can use to write a web app.

In this talk, we'll learn how to write Mutating and Validating webhooks in Python, we'll learn how to configure and deploy the webhooks, and then we'll run some test deployments against them and watch them in action.

Last, time permitting, we'll discuss some pros and cons of using Python instead of Go for this kind of work.
