You can enter as an individual, as a team - or use our "open teams" system to find teammates. Discord Server PyWeek now has a Discord server where you can chat with other PyWeekers, form teams, or ask for advice. Discord already has a thriving community of Python game developers, with servers for Pygame , Pyglet , Panda3D , and ModernGL , making it a natural place to also chat about PyWeek. It's also a big user experience improvement over our old IRC channel. Join using this invitation link . Python 3 Rules Starting in PyWeek 29, entries *must* work on Python 3 (under rule 9 ). Although the number of entries that only work on Python 2 has been decreasing over time, whether to run an entry with Python 2 or 3 has been a point of confusion in the past few years. Python 2's own end of life (as of the start of this year) is a nice opportunity for PyWeek to move on to Python 3 only. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Thanks to OliveAI (https://oliveai.com/) for sponsoring pizza and drinks this month. Check them out! This month we will be at the new Dublin Library (in Meeting Room 1). This month Ben Ogorek will be talking about a package he is developing called "datascroller" (https://github.com/baogorek/datascroller) that allows data scientists to easily scroll a data frame interactively in the console. It's based on the curses library. Recently, Ben found a similar tool, Visidata, that's been around for a few years and is very powerful. He will end his talk by discussing what he learned from this, including the prospect of building things that have already been built as well the challenge of getting feedback and generating interest. This group is only as good as its inputs. Please consider helping out. Hope to see you there! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Part of the experience is to have people working with Python in tech jobs come in and talk to the students. We'll have a mix of student demographics, and are looking to have a mix of speaker demographics, too. If you're interested, feel free to email me privately. Your obligation would be to come in during their lunch time and speak to them for about half an hour about what you do, how you got into technology, why you think it's cool they're learning Python, etc. I don't know the exact timing yet. We're using two different tools to teach them Python programming. One is PyPhysicsSandbox, a 2D physics simulation toolkit I wrote, and the other is Anvil, a framework that makes it easy to write web apps in nothing but Python. By the end of the camp students have written a multiuser web app. For some of them that'll be little more than a visual prototype, but for others it'll be a fully functional version 0.1 of something they can continue working on after the camp.
