So I'm going to be at the Sydney PUG next week to talk to people there about the conference. I was wondering if I could offer the same to Canberra PUG -- I can't attend in person, but if I can find an internet connection whilst I'm in Sydney, I'd be happy to attend via Skype to answer questions from Canberra PUG people, as well as share some of our plans. Any chance we can make this happen? --Chris On Wed, Apr 25, 2012 at 18:55, Elena Williams wrote: > Hey guys, > > It's time again for Python User Group next week in Canberra, just getting > you psyched. > > If anyone has anything interesting they've been working on or questions > they'd like to ask put them up here: > http://wiki.python.org/moin/CanberraPUG > > We'll probably have a demo of how to use "Fabric" which is a website > deployment tool. > > We're hoping for a really good meeting. > > Elena > > > _______________________________________________ > Canberra-PUG mailing list > Canberra-PUG at python.org > http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/canberra-pug > -- --Christopher Neugebauer Jabber: chrisjrn at gmail.com -- IRC: chrisjrn on irc.freenode.net -- AIM: chrisjrn157 -- MSN: chris at neugebauer.id.au -- WWW: http://chris.neugebauer.id.au -- Twitter/Identi.ca: @chrisjrn -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Message-ID: Here at Monash University (Melbourne) we have a first year Data Structures and Algorithms course that is taught using Java, and I am one of the people working in the transition to use Python as the teaching language. Are any undergraduate courses there in Canberra ran using Python as the teaching language? Any experience you can share will be useful, but I am particularly interested in first year foundation courses where Python is more a teaching language (here's how you learn about algorithms using Python) than an implementation language (here is how you massage data or build a website using Python). Come at 6pm. We'll then have time to get to know each other (especially newcomers) before the talks get underway at 6:30. We'll announce the talks shortly. Meanwhile, there are still some slots open, so, if there's something interesting you'd like share about Python, now's your chance! The list of talks is on this wiki page: http://wiki.python.org/moin/CanberraPUG . Feel free to add yourself to the list; we're interested in talks about any Python-related topics. We are also expecting several new faces. After the meetup we will be continuing discussions at the Wig and Pen pub a short distance away. We hope to see you there! It's going to be great with quite a few new people and talk about Python with some very serious networks from Uber. There's also been quite a bit of interest in PANDAS if anyone is interested in giving a quick demo of a use case that would be really interesting. There is also going to be definite continuation at the Wig and Pen this week, I for one will be going come hell or high-water (it's that lull between assessment and exams :) Also, don't forget to register for PyCon AU before early bird closes. --- Elena :) @elequ -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
