From betsy at python.org Tue Dec 15 15:46:09 2015 From: betsy at python.org (Betsy Waliszewski) Date: Tue, 15 Dec 2015 12:46:09 -0800 Subject: [Bundle-sponsorship-wg] ACTION NEEDED: International Sponsorship Bundle - Prospectus Message-ID: Hi all, I've completed the first draft of the International Sponsorship Prospectus. It was challenging making the document easy to read, with 10 conferences participating. I color-coordinated each of the participating conferences with their benefits, so hopefully it can be understood. I've been looking at it for weeks, so I know what is there. Fresh eyes will see it differently ;-). I need everyone's feedback on anything that's not clear and/or suggestions to make it clear to sponsors what we're proposing. We can use the intro language already written from the original doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uTWBF34g5TQEsu6EyERMNiq7FHax-g-FlZf91rv8WNY/edit in the email we send to sponsors. Not sure if we want to allow sponsors to build their own package, but that's up for discussion, obviously. Here is the link and I also shared the doc with each of you. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GrwpciU4JOz0p7nBmDpfyDYNPx_dHX0Kav15KZ7PXcw/edit#gid=0 Let me know if you want the total sponsorship fees rounded up to the nearest $1,000. I think most packages do that (ex. instead of $81,200 it becomes $82,000). Here is my initial list of sponsors who have expressed an interest in this type of package: 1. Bank of America 2. LinkedIn 3. Red Hat 4. Microsoft 5. OpenEye Scientific Software 6. Globo Please let me know if you have any other suggestions for sponsors to reach out to. 2016 just weeks away, so we're running out of time to offer this for 2016. I'd like to roll this out right after the holidays, so if you could please look this over and give me your comments no later than Monday, December 28, that would be most excellent. Thanks in advance for your thoughts, Betsy -- Betsy Waliszewski Python Software Foundation Event Coordinator / Administrator @betswaliszewski -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... It is a "monster" of a document. You are absolutely correct about that :) I do suggest turning it onto a document PDF instead of a spreadsheet and for the PDF to be informational just like a conference prospectus. I have created it into a PDF[1]... let me know your thoughts on this type of layout. It did not copy over properly so you would have to fix the color scheme of the "X"s. It could also use further descriptions. A few other things: - I see the bundle cost for "all of the PyCons" in a particular level, but what about the pricing for individual conferences for the "pick and choose" options? The far left table shows costs of sponsor packages without admin fees. Perhaps you can turn that far-left list of sponsor package costs into that list. I have added it to PDF below, but please double check the math. - Diamond Level PyCons should be $111,000. I have added it to PDF below, but please double check the math. Something I realised I liked about this version is that keeping it simple this year (i.e. focusing on the all inclusive option and the "a la carte" option) means we can focus on getting the program up and running in the first place, and then look at introducing additional flexibility (like the regional bundles) in 2017 and beyond, hopefully with more conferences on the roster. It also means any future discounts on admin fees for conference bundles can be calibrated based on actual experience with the effort involved in running the program. Now you can support community-led Python conferences across the world through one central point of contact - the Python Software Foundation. Regardless of the venue, Python community conferences attract a diverse and exclusive audience of developers, technologists, programmers and hackers; bloggers, authors and web developers; CTOs, managers and entrepreneurs; scientists, engineers and domain experts. The Python Software Foundation has put together a prospectus to allow you to customize your sponsorship bundle or to sponsor* all 10 *of the international PyCons participating in our program. Please see the attached prospectus and feel free to email our team directly at bundle-sponsorship-wg at python.org if you have any questions or want more information before deciding whether to step forward as a sponsor. Some comments on the PDF: * "Grayed?out boxes mean the conference does not offer that specific benefit." - there don't appear to be any such boxes * I'd include the expected number of attendees in the table since that's a rather important information for sponsors to ask for. PS: If you like, I can ask the EuroPython designer to turn this into a nice looking brochure. See e.g. the EuroPython 2016 brochure for an example: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7tOgbgHc1sEQVlxc2RqRzdwLUE/view?usp=sharing On 29.12.2015 23:49, Betsy Waliszewski wrote: > Hi Van and Marc-Andre, > > We're just about ready to send out the International PyCon Prospectus and > would very much appreciate your feedback on the readability of the > document. I think that it does communicate what it needs to, and it would probably be best to get more reactions to iterate on the design My biggest point of feedback is not on the information layout, but on the colors and branding. I think that it would be better received if 1) we included the PSF logo, and 2) adopted a color scheme that was consistent with the main python colors. It's a small thing, but the branding really helps sell this sort of benefit.
