[Borgbackup] Does BORG take --file-cache into account when --read-special is used?

Hi everyone,

I've implemented a backup setup in which database dumps are executed
remotely using SSH, data is forwarded using STDOUT and redirected by
SSH into some created named pipe. Those pipes are read using
"--read-special" and looking at the contents of the restored archives,
things seem to work as expected.

Just to be sure, those pipes always get re-created by deleting them
after a backup and creating them before. Though, from my understanding
in theory I could keep created ones and re-attach readers and writers
as necessary. OTOH, those e.g. don't have a size, which is checked by
default as part of the file-cache.

So, how does BORG handle file-cache and special files like pipes? I
would expect those to be ignored entirely? What's with other block
devices, which might have e.g. a size always? Like in the following
example:

> $ borg create --read-special --chunker-params fixed,4194304 /path/to/repo::my-sdx /dev/sdX

I guess you simply don't care and handle all of those non-file things
the same, as it's easier and one can't know if a size is available at
all in theory?
