[Borgbackup] borgmatic to backup databases

Hi all,

I know it's a different project, but maybe you have experience with
that as well: borgmatic as frontend to Borg looks pretty interesting
because it provides hooks and supports dumping PostgreSQL databases. I
need the former to create file system snapshots in ZFS and BTRFS if
available and the latter simply because some VMs use Postgres.

The important point is that I would like to avoid dumping Postgres
into the file system and instead would like to directly stream to the
Borg repo. borgmatic is able to do this in theory:

But here is where things become interesting: I would additionally like
to setup only one server backing up all VMs using a PULL-approach.
For files this might be possible using SSHFS or ...

But to support borgmatic and Postgres I would need to make Postgres
available to that host on network level as well, correct? This is
because borgmatic being the backup frontend is executed on the one
server intended to backup all other hosts. Or is it spawning
additional processes within the hosts to be backed up, like RSYNC over
SSH?
