How offended would you be if I said "oh dear God, no. Just no"?

I have this reaction is because (scar tissue) external USB drives are
not very reliable. also as others have indicated, this is not something
Borg can do.  do you have a reason why a local NAS with enough storage
would not be acceptable as a solution? are you trying to take the backup
data off-site using these external drives?

Are you open to suggestions from the mailing list on better ways to
handle your backup strategy?
