[AstroPy] Co-ordinating Python astronomy libraries?

Hi All,

As a newbie to Python and a spoiled IDL user: Geez, what a mess!

- I think a AAS Splinter is a great idea...looks like the deadline isn't
until Dec 1 for Seattle, but we should get on it since they are assigned on
a first-come, first-served basis based on room availability.  It might make
more sense to do Boston in May 2011 because people won't be as busy with
other meeting things and it should be nice there in spring. I nominate Perry
to lead the proposal.  (It's not a big deal....main thing will be to figure
out total cost/expected number of participants = fee...or find someone to
pay for it.  STScI, maybe?)

Well, Eli and Tom have already done the listing on AstroPython:

However, I find the entire AstroPython site to be very non-intuitive...and
you can't upload files to it (currently) which you can on the AstroBetter
wiki (as ianc did with his DAYCONV.py script).  I'm going to work on filling
in the Python wiki table I started and see how that works out:

It would be ideal of the authors of the multi-purpose packages -- Erik and
Mubdi, I'm talking to you -- helped to fill it in.

If you think I'm wasting my time with the table, please let me know.  So
far, it's at least been very helpful for *me* to get my head wrapped around
everything that's out there....
