Python Backend Developer (3 Month Initial Services Contract)

Job Description

You will be responsible for building the foundations of our infrastructure at skoon. You will need to build platforms that evolve quickly, integrate with 3rd party systems (e.g. CRM, location services, housing databases) and provide a robust API for our web and mobile apps. Our data is diverse so experience of relational and non- relational data modelling is required.

You’ll partner with the whole of the skoon team, including frontend & app developers, data science, design and leadership teams to deliver the product vision.

You are enthusiastic about your software stack and continuously look for ways to accelerate our mission using the latest tooling and platforms.

Requirements

  • Python, Flask
  • Cloud-first architecture; Google Cloud Platform experience preferential
  • Experience with various system architectures and ability to explain their pros and cons
  • Experience building APIs for a range of use case, e.g. responsive web apps with realtime user interaction, mobile apps with offline capabilities
  • Integrate with 3rd party systems using a diverse range of technology, e.g. GraphQL, REST, legacy systems/data scraping
  • Some experience of basic devOps, e.g. CI, managing deploys, database backups

To supplement the efforts of the permanent team, we are seeking skilled contractors able to provide services to the company on a short term basis. Requirements for the delivery of those services is as follows; * Mix of on-site and at home working required * Rate reflecting experience (£400 – 600/day) * An energetic and mission-aligned office environment at Sustainable Workspaces, Waterloo * Services delivered as a single project, with interim milestones set after mutual discussion
