We have an exciting remote sensing project with hardware deployed in the field.
Our hardware outputs data which needs to be processed and presented to users on the web, on an Android app etc. Some of this data will be overlaid on a map (Open Street Maps is ideal).
This job is particularly for the Python-based backend for this system. Some image processing will be required.
This is a small job, that probably requires at most 80 hours over the next two weeks. Success in this task however, will lead to other amazing opportunities.
A small test will be administered, to assess your computer science/mathematics fundamentals.

- At least 3 years experience of programming in Python.
- Some image processing experience e.g OpenCV, ImageMagick, PIL/Pillow etc.
- Python-based API/web frameworks e.g Django or Flask.
- Some experience with GIS and maps APIs e.g Open Street Maps.
- AWS - EC2, S3, Lambda etc.
- Databases e.g PostgreSQL.
Optional: 1. A strong background in mathematics/computer science would be great. 2. Side projects that indicate your enthusiasm for programming. 3. Machine learning. 4. Other languages such as C++. 5. Ability to develop a simple Android app and/or website would be a great bonus!
About the Company
We have two Electrical/Electronic engineering PhDs on our team with experience in this field, one having written a popular book and taught at MIT on the subject.
Our CEO has experience co-founding two successful startups (this is a third one). One started while an Electrical Engineering/Computer Science student at MIT and continues to run successfully in the US. The other is a Pan African company that has grown rapidly into a presence in 5 countries across East and West Africa
We're a team of electronics hobbyists with a love of Python. This team also has lots of experience in high performance computing (GPUs, distributed computing, FPGAs etc).
