Paul's work and PEPs 245 and 246 were all written earlier this year, so they're not that old. > Clearly the ideas of interfaces and of static types are distinct but closely > related developments. Is this an area of active development, or is the > current consensus that it's not worth the effort? This is the way I think I see it, Paul, Clark and myself (and some others) came up with three different and for the most part orthogonal proposals related to type checking, interfaces, and object adaptation. Guido did not seem warmed by any of them to any measurable degree, and there were other pressing problems at the time (like type/class unificaiton) which required solving. Now that type/class and other problems have been solved, the entire type checking thing needs to be looked at again, but the dust hasn't really settled yet. I think we're all just relaxing. I, for one, plan on mounting a second PEP 245 offensive when the time is ripe. Muhahah! -Michel
