Thanks for the quick responses guys... I was fooled by Vim and my own inexperience. I had forgotten to escape a preceding quote and the pound symbol was generating a python comment which showed up in syntax highlighting... Grrr. Problem fixed now. [walking away embarrassed...] ;)
