AgBiome: BIOINFORMATICS SCIENTIST

*Job Description:*

We know you are out there.  You are the bioinformatics expert that everyone
goes to with data problems. You know how to program as well as how to
string together off-the-shelf tools and make them work on whatever hardware
you can find.  Strangely, you can actually explain what you have done in a
way that people appreciate and understand.  More importantly, you are also
a true scientist who can approach large data sets, form testable
hypotheses, and then actually test them.  Most importantly, you want to be
part of a truly revolutionary effort to understand microbial genomics on a
scale never before attempted, and you want to do it now.

*Candidates must have:*

   - PhD (or MS and extensive industry experience) in the biological
   sciences or bioinformatics
   - Comfortable in Linux environments including command line hacking and
   shell scripting
   - Experience with Python (or knowledge of multiple languages and
   willingness to learn and work in Python)
   - Experience with SQL databases
   - Experience programming and dealing with large, sometimes ambiguous
   biological data sets (must be able to demonstrate experience organizing,
   hypothesizing, & working with large data sets
   - Experience with genome or metagenome analysis
   - Experience with DNA and protein sequence analysis
   - Laboratory or other research experience, preferably with publications
   that demonstrate the ability to reason and manage complex problems
   - Good prioritization skills for an agile business environment;
   understanding business prioritizations, willingness to reprioritize based
   on new inputs
   - Evidence of project completion
   - A positive, can-do attitude and a strong desire to be part of a
   successful team of bright, capable colleagues
   - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to
   work in a fast-paced team environment
   - Desire to have coding be a part of your daily routine

*Preferred Qualifications:*

   - Experience with one or more of R, BioPython, Pandas
   - Experience with Object Relational Models
   - Experience working with cloud computing platforms
   - Awesome Excel and PowerPoint skills
   - Ag experience
