Subject: [Spambayes] Can't enable SpamBayes add-in

SpamBayes sounds like a good program and I'd like to use it, but even though
the add-in is listed Outlook 2016 prevents me from enabling it. The only
possible solution I've found online involves going into the registry, which
I'm reluctant to do. My OS is Windows 10. Any help would be appreciated.

Jack,

Try and following two changesL

* Make sure you are using 32-bit Outlook

* Install the plug-in in a non-default location. C:\SpamBayes seems common.

Hi All,

 

Recently installed spambayes: win 10(64), outlook 2016(32), C:\spambayes
(installation folder) and the program is stable and works just fine.  Though
I wish it would work better.  It flags too many emails as suspect - even
after I have identified them as not spam.  Also I wish I could put the
buttons spam, not spam directly on my quick access toolbar.  They are inside
a custom toolbars icon.

Ted,

There are two things repeatedly mentioned on this list with the Outlook
toolbar on recent versions of Windows.  As Skip mentioned, you must install
in a location other than the default; C:\spambayes is usually recommended.
The other thing is that the Spambayes toolbar will not work in a 64-bit
version of Outlook; it must be 32-bit.  Being a dormant project, if you have
met these criteria and it still does not work, then there are no further
options other than to search Google's archives for a solution, use Spambayes
POP3 proxy instead, or find an alternative software.
