It's a great spam algorithm that works without any problems. Except that, over the past month or so, the add-in keeps unloading. This requires going into: Options > Add-Ins > Comm Add-Ins to just check the box to reload it-until it unloads again (perhaps when restarting Outlook 2013). Does anyone know how to keep SpamBayes from unloading in Outlook 2013? Thank you. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Karl, Has anything in your overall setup changed in the past month (new version of Windows or Outlook, etc)? Did you reinstall SpamBayes itself? Like it was not installed. You are running 64 bit Outlook. SpamBayes is a 32 bit plugin. It won't work. You need to either run 32 bit Office, or install SpamBayes outside of Outlook as a proxy server between Outlook and your Internet connection. ______ Dennis https://plus.google.com/u/0/105128793974319004519 From dlippe at Lippeengr.com Tue Feb 25 18:26:46 2014 From: dlippe at Lippeengr.com (David Lippe) Date: Tue, 25 Feb 2014 11:26:46 -0600 Subject: [Spambayes] Spambayes Bug Message-ID: <01cb01cf324e$c2844540$478ccfc0$@Lippeengr.com> Installed Spambayes (most recent edition, I think) on Windows 7 & Outlook 2013. SpamBayes is a 32 bit plugin, and can't work in 64 bit Outlook. (I do not expect to see a 64 bit SpamBayes build.) Your options are running a 32 bit version of Outlook 2013, installing SpamBayes as a proxy between your Internet connection and Outlook instead of as an Outlook plugin, or doing without SpamBayes, > David ______ Dennis From skip at pobox.com Tue Feb 25 19:08:29 2014 From: skip at pobox.com (Skip Montanaro) Date: Tue, 25 Feb 2014 12:08:29 -0600 Subject: [Spambayes] Spambayes Bug In-Reply-To: References: <01cb01cf324e$c2844540$478ccfc0$@Lippeengr.com> Message-ID: On Tue, Feb 25, 2014 at 11:56 AM, dmccunney wrote: > Are you using a 64 bit version of Outlook? I asked again yesterday on python-list at python.org (comp.lang.python Usenet newsgroup) if someone there would be willing to tackle this. No response so far. Any suggestions for other places I could try to find a person willing to tackle this problem? The folks I can think of who *could* do it don't run Windows or use Outlook, and would have no interest in doing it. Since the problem reports I've seen here lately all seem to be related to SpamBayes not working with 64 bit Outlook, I *would* suggest an addition to the FAQ about the incompatibility between 64 bit Outlook and 32 bit SpamBayes, with a pointer to instructions for installing SpamBayes as a proxy server instead. I believe that *does* work with 64 bit Outlook. An appropriate note on the SpamBayes homepage would also be a good idea. > Skip ______ Dennis https://plus.google.com/u/0/105128793974319004519 From tsullins at calbaptist.edu Fri Feb 28 19:38:06 2014 From: tsullins at calbaptist.edu (Tyler Sullins) Date: Fri, 28 Feb 2014 18:38:06 +0000 Subject: [Spambayes] Windows 8.1 Message-ID: <894B123DB15C14478D836EDDCAD6A5E6BAF526BA@Mail2.CalBaptist.local> Hello, Thank you for developing SpamBayes; it is a great resource when all the other spam filters seem to not work as expected. I am emailing just as an update. I'm sure you've already been testing on Windows 8.1, but I haven't seen an update on the website, so I figured I would email you and let you know the testing that I have done with 8.1. From what I understand of its behavior on Windows 7, it seems very similar. It will not load properly when installed in the default Program Files location, so the root of the C:\ drive works perfectly. I have SpamBayes running flawlessly on Windows 8.1 with Outlook 2010 and 2013. As I said, this is just an update in case you haven't already heard or tested. Thanks again! As far as I know, the main visible difference in Win 8.1 is the Metro interface. (I have Win2K, XP, and 7 here. I don't have Win 8.) The file system and permissions model is still the one used in Win Vista/7, and the need to install outside of Program Files comes from that. Installed in the Program Files hierarchy, it doesn't have permission to run. Installed outside, it does. I assume your installation was with a 32 bit version of Office. Most problems posted here stem from attempting to use SpamBayes with 64 bit Office - it's a 32 bit plugin, and not compatible. The option in that case is to install SpamBayes as a proxy server between your ISP and Outlook, instead of attempting to use it as a plugin. > Tyler Sullins, ACMT > tsullins at calbaptist.edu ______ Dennis https://plus.google.com/u/0/105128793974319004519
