From bjwillis at acenet.net.au Mon Nov 21 05:32:40 2011 From: bjwillis at acenet.net.au (Barry Willis) Date: Mon, 21 Nov 2011 14:32:40 +1000 Subject: [Spambayes] Spambayes in Outlook......Need some help! Message-ID: <004b01cca806$9ae0b6b0$d0a22410$@net.au> Hi there I've been using Spambayes successfully in Outlook for some time (I think it was version 1.0.4) but recently something happened & Outlook refused to work until Spambayes was removed. I uninstalled Spambayes, downloaded & installed the latest version (1.1a6) but Spambayes doesn't appear to be present in Outlook at all, there's no toolbar & I can't see anywhere else it might be hiding. There were no errors that appeared when installing the program files & in the program files the Spambayes folder & several sub folders are present. Spambayes also appears in the startup folder. I've looked at troubleshooting for "Addin Doesn't Load". If I follow the instructions to "Check that Outlook shows the addin as enabled", under Tools/Options/Other/ Advanced THERE IS NO Com Add-Ins button. So that was a dead end. I also tried the outlook_addin_register.exe file & it doesn't appear to do anything. Couldn't find a regsvr32.exe file & the DLL file asked what program I wanted to use to run it so no success there. I'm using Outlook 2007 & Windows XP V 5.1 SP3. Is there anything else I need to do apart from just running the installation program? Any suggestions on how to get the program running again? I couldn't find anything that appeared relevant in the FAQ section. Some help would be appreciated as before this problem occurred Spambayes was doing a great job & I was very happy with it. However, my system got stuck the other day and I had to force reboot my system. When I booted my computer all was OK, but SpamBayes would no longer work. I downloaded the .exe file again and reinstalled it, but now I get the message that says: There was an error initializing the spamBayes addin. Please re-start Outlook and try again. I have repeatedly retried opening and closing Outlook with no results. I have re-booted my computer. I have uninstalled SpamBayes using the Windows Uninstall and the Spambayes uninstall. I am running . Windows 7 Premium - service pack 1 . Outlook 2007 . with 1.1a6 version of Spambayes When I look in Outlook's "trust center" under the TOOLS menu, Spambayes is there as an Add-in. I don't know what else to do. Any assistance you can give would be grateful. Sincerely, Lynn Dougherty -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... E-mail from particular people sometimes go into the Junk Suspect folder. I keep recovering them, and making sure that the sender is on my white list, but spambayes continues to send some of these emails for the Junk Suspect folder. Annoying. These are important e-mails from clients. Is there a way I can tell SpamBayes that all messages from a particular sender are OK? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... All it does is score messages. If you want to white list mail from specific users set up a filter in Outlook which does that and make sure SpamBayes runs after that filter. If for some reason SpamBayes continues to score messages from people you want to see as spam there are probably mistakes in your training. You can always delete your training database and start from scratch. After a few messages have been received and correctly classified, performance should be pretty good. Generally, you need only train on mistakes, and should keep the number of ham and spam relatively balanced. There should be no reason to train on every message you receive. -- Skip Montanaro - skip at pobox.com - http://www.smontanaro.net/ From amedee at vangasse.eu Mon Nov 28 16:17:12 2011 From: amedee at vangasse.eu (Amedee Van Gasse) Date: Mon, 28 Nov 2011 16:17:12 +0100 Subject: [Spambayes] my spamstats bash script Message-ID: <4776bf621a00327f24739f95fbe5c1fd.squirrel@amedee.be> I modified my spamstats shell script, it now also shows the Ham/Spam ratio.
