SpamBayes won't *stop* spam, it will just label it. You can then do
whatever you like with that information - typically, you set up a message
rule to move messages labelled as spam to a spam folder.

Have you setup your mail client to connect to localhost (:110) rather than
to mail.optusnet.com.au?
