Tony,

I spoke too soon; this gets interesting.

If
   pop3proxy_service is installed and running, with 
[html_ui] allow_remote_connections=True

Then
   I can login to the UI locally at localhost:8880

But
   I cannot login remotely.

If pop3proxy.py is running as well as or instead of the service then I 
can indeed login remotely.

It begins to sound as if the service version of the script doesn't work 
in quite the same fashion as the command line version.
