Any info would be apreciated? For future reference, the spambayes at python.org mailing list is more active and is geared more toward people using SpamBayes. The spambayes-dev mailing list is for discussions of development of SpamBayes. That said, I'm not sure what we can do without some more detailed information about what the error was and what (if anything) SpamBayes might have saved in a log file. Unfortunately, I use neither the pop3 proxy nor Windows so I haven't a clue where to tell you to look for any log files SpamBayes might have left. Message-ID: <499D2360.1070509@gmail.com> I recently found and fixed the problem in pywin32 which caused the DEP errors, and is probably responsible for many of the outlook related reports of crashing. I'm happy to put a new windows binary out after all these years if anyone else is up for coordinating other releases. I'm aware it is almost a year since I discussed a new release with Skip at pycon ... :) Cheers, Mark From skippy.hammond at gmail.com Thu Feb 19 14:38:23 2009 From: skippy.hammond at gmail.com (Mark Hammond) Date: Fri, 20 Feb 2009 00:38:23 +1100 Subject: [spambayes-dev] Big old checkin - Hello Python 2.4, Goodbye Python 2.[23] In-Reply-To: <20090127113200.961E1D82949@montanaro.dyndns.org> References: <20090127113200.961E1D82949@montanaro.dyndns.org> Message-ID: <499D60CF.5000403@gmail.com> On 27/01/2009 10:32 PM, skip at pobox.com wrote: > If you have a chance (even just a few minutes) and are comfortable with > running or at least testing SpamBayes from Subversion it would help if you > could svn up and try the current state of affairs. You *will* need Python > 2.4 or later. I run routinely with Python 2.7a0. So assuming we get a new build out, what should we go for? I'd vote 2.5 (2.6 is still a little suspect on windows WRT the msvcrt binaries...) - which assumes there is no demand for a 64bit version on Windows, in which case it *must* be 2.6 - but I'm happy to say I've seen no evidence of such a demand... Woo hoo! That's great news -- congratulations. > I'm happy to put a new windows binary out after all these > years if anyone else is up for coordinating other releases. You have my full moral support, which better be enough cuz I can't offer any real support :-( > I'm aware it is almost a year since I discussed a new release with Skip at > pycon ... :) It's sure worth fixing the DEP surprises on Windows. So if Skip doesn't volunteer, I'll have to ask someone else to step up. That would be way ugly ;-) From skip at pobox.com Fri Feb 20 07:11:58 2009 From: skip at pobox.com (skip at pobox.com) Date: Fri, 20 Feb 2009 00:11:58 -0600 Subject: [spambayes-dev] new spambayes build? Given that I have reently checked in a fairly large set of changes I think I'd like it to cook a little bit more before making another release. I should remind people that I don't use Windows, so I'm probably not the best person to "feel the pain" of the Windows users affected by the DEP problems. If others feel strongly, we should probably put out a new release soon. Skip
