Category: Outlook Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: duveneck (duveneck) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Outlook 2010 crashes w/ SpamBayes because of DEP Initial Comment: Outlook 2010 (beta) crashes while loading when SpamBayes is enabled, reporting a Data Execution Error. It then disables SpamBayes and opens normally without it. Adding OUTLOOK.EXE to the DEP exclusion list has no effect--it does not solve the problem (unlike in earlier versions of Outlook.) It appears there is no way to get SpamBayes to work with 2010. Because of this, I am also unable to test how SpamBayes' toolbars work with the new ribbon interface in 2010. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Mike Honey (mikehoney) Date: 2010-05-08 01:26 Message: I just tried the 1.1a6 release but can't get it working. Win 7 x32 and Outlook 2010 RTM. Outlook starts but reports an error: There was an error initializing the Spambayes addin. I turned off DEP mode in Outlook as per danmcco's post below. I looked into System DEP properties - it was already set to "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only". It looks like this is the lowest setting? I previously had Spambayes 1.0.4 working well on Outlook 2007. Then upgraded Outlook to 2010, uninstalled Spambayes 1.0.4 and installed Spambayes 1.1a6 Happy to be the crash-test dummy on this one - been using Spambayes for many many years and love it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Mark Hammond (mhammond) Date: 2010-04-29 22:10 Message: The 1.1a6 release should have this fixed - please let me know if this isn't the case (and even if it is :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Jamie Hanrahan () Date: 2010-04-29 19:27 Message: Correction! Good news, everyone! :) After doing the DEP fixes described below, AND fixing the permissions on Program Files (x86)\SpamBayes, it works fine. I'll put some change/enhancement suggestions in another thread. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Jamie Hanrahan () Date: 2010-04-29 19:08 Message: montanaro, danmcco - I tried making Outlook an exception for DEP in the System configuration, and also unchecked the DEP option as danmcco suggested - no help. This is with 32-bit Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 x64. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Skip Montanaro (montanaro) Date: 2010-03-06 12:25 Message: Does this help? http://spambayes.sourceforge.net/faq.html#id68 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Daniel McCormack (danmcco) Date: 2010-03-06 09:42 Message: If you Go to File...options...Trust Center... Trust Center Settings...DEP Setting and uncheck enable DEP mode it will load and work.
